"Not Like Them"

Latest self portrait. Playing with the idea of "individuality". More like this to follow...

Janelle Monáe at The Bowery Ballroom in NYC

Janelle always gives it her all during the live performances, but there was something extra special about this one. I can't explain it. You just had to be there. Here are just a few photos I got during and after the show.

"Let's roll up our sleeves and get back to work for our country." - Obama

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Been registered to vote since 18 years old, but never have I felt this much excitement from any political campaign. And Barack Obama? Well, he's such a wonderful man, a true inspiration and so fitting for our country right now. I have great respect for him, his beautiful family and background. So glad to be alive experiencing these great moments in time. "Yes we can" see that this country gets back on track again! America, there's much to be done!

The change starts with us.

VOTE!

This is my dear friend and incredible talented makeup artist, Eileen Yepez. I had the priviledge to work with her in the past, and I'm praying that our schedules allow us to come together once more. She also has a youtube account where she shows you how the magic happens with her brushes and blushes. AMAZING stuff indeed. You can check her out HERE

Below is a video showcasing more of her beautiful works. Her imagination is endless. Love you girl!

"Your Tortured Soul"

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

ABSOluv is an amazing Graffiti artist working in England. The original self portrait below was taken with my digital fuji finepix camera about 3-4 years ago:

After he created some graffiti art work from my photo, he contacted me saying how much the photo inspired him, and that he hoped I didn't mind him using it as a base.

I think it's beautiful and I'm proud of the work he created.

This has totally made my day. =)

Many Moons Short Film + Janelle Monáe comes to Nokia Theater

Well, cyboys and cybergirls, the very first official short film from Janelle Monae is finally here. For two years, I've rambled on and on to my friends about this girl. Sorry guys, I know I probably wrecked your nerves at times, but now hopefully you'll see why my eyes lit up with such excitement every time her music was mentioned or played. I'm so proud of this young lady for staying focused and loving art so much for giving us a gift like this.

"Many Moons"

Before I share some photos, I'd first like to say God is so good. No, better yet, God is so GREAT. Late last night, I was up thinking about how fortunate I was to be in the presence of such talented, hard working individuals of the Wondaland Arts Society last Thursday. I could never thank George 2.0 & Jovian, a.k.a The Chasemasters, enough for allowing me to come behind the scenes and do my thing. Much love and appreciation to the both of them.

Now check out some photos!

Soundcheck.
